Day 1: Rongai gate to Simba Camp

Elevations: 1950 m to 2750 m Hiking time: 4 hours Hiking distance: 9 km After an early breakfast, you’ll drive to the Rongai Gate, located on the northeastern side of Kilimanjaro.
Upon registration, you’ll begin your trek through beautiful rainforests, filled with diverse flora and fauna. The trail gradually ascends, providing glimpses of Kilimanjaro’s magnificent scenery.
Today’s hike is relatively moderate, and you’ll reach Simba Camp in the afternoon, where you’ll spend the night.

Day 2: Simba Camp to Kikelewa Camp

Elevations: 2750 m to 3600 m Hiking time: 7 hours Hiking distance: 17 km Your second day on the trail starts with a nourishing breakfast before embarking on a steady ascent through moorland.
The landscape changes as you leave the forest behind and enter the heath zone, marked by open plains and sparse vegetation. The trek is challenging but rewarding, and you’ll reach Kikelewa Camp in the afternoon.
Take in the panoramic views and rest for the night.

Day 3: Kikelewa camp to Mawenzi turn camp

Elevations: 3600 m to 4330 m Hiking time: 4 hours Hiking distance: 7 km Today’s trek takes you further up the mountain, offering incredible vistas along the way. You’ll traverse across ridges and valleys, with the magnificent Mawenzi peak as your backdrop.
The trail becomes steeper as you approach Mawenzi Tarn Camp, situated near a picturesque alpine lake.

Day 4: Aclimatization day

This is a relaxation day that will be spent at Mawenzi tarn camp for the second time although the enjoyment and experience are still there. The hikers and whole team will acclimatize here as you prepare for the next day’s challenging ascent.
Explore beautiful view of Mawenzi peak experiencing the weather sharing different exposure of vegetation and having a good time.

Day 5: Mawenzi Tarn camp to Kibo hut

Elevations: 4,330 m to 4,695 m Hiking time: 5 hours Hiking distance: 8 km This is a crucial day as you climb higher towards the summit.
After breakfast, you’ll ascend through a rocky and rugged terrain, reaching the “Saddle” – a high-altitude desert that connects Mawenzi and Kibo. As you near Kibo Hut, the base camp for the summit attempt, you’ll notice the landscape becoming barren and lunar-like.
Rest and eat a nourishing dinner, as you’ll have an early night to prepare for the summit push.

Day 6: Kibo hut to Uhuru Peak to Horombo hut

Elevations: 4695 m to 5895 m to 3690 m Hiking time: 10-15 hours Hiking distance: 4 km up, 14 km down Today is the most challenging but rewarding day of your trek. You’ll start the summit attempt around midnight, guided by headlamps and accompanied by experienced guides.
The trek is steep and mentally demanding, but as you push through the darkness, you’ll witness a breathtaking sunrise from the summit of Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa.
Celebrate your accomplishment and descend to Horombo Hut, where you’ll spend the night.

Day 7: Horombo hut to Marangu Gate to Moshi

Elevations: 3690 m to 1830m Hiking time: 5-7 hours Hiking distance: 18 km On the final day, you’ll descend through the heath and rainforests, retracing your steps back to the Marangu Gate.
It’s a downhill trek that allows you to reflect on your incredible journey and enjoy the lush surroundings. At the gate, you’ll receive your summit certificates and bid farewell to your guides and porters.
You’ll then be transferred back to your hotel in Moshi, where you can relax, celebrate, and reminisce about your unforgettable Kilimanjaro adventure.
